STARTERS

 CREAM OF FISH AND SEAFOOD SOUP 

                    FRENCH ONION SOUP topped with a cheese crouton                    

 FALAFEL   Chickpea patties with spices and roast garlic. Served warm with ‘fattoush’ salad  .....mixed leaves, rocket, tomato, onion and herbs, topped with crisp pieces of toasted pitta bread and an olive oil & lemon dressing

ROAST BELLY PORK  with a chicory, apple, date and mint salad with olive oil dressing

                                                                        SMOKED MACKEREL CHEESECAKE                                                 

          A savoury oatcake base topped with smoked mackerel & cream cheese pate flavoured with horseradish

 POTTED DUCK  Rich duck patè with garlic & chopped thyme. Served with onion and cranberry relish

 MELON  with a caramelised ginger syrup 

MUSHROOM RAREBIT  mushroom topped with mature cheddar & mustard. Grilled and served with Smiths’ piccalilli

 ...and a half portion of our chargrilled chicken breast main course may also be ordered as a starter

 MAIN COURSES

 CHARGRILLED CHICKEN BREAST Chicken breast marinated in thyme,

garlic, oregano, paprika and olive oil.  Served on a dressed mixed salad 

 AUBERGINE, WHITE BEAN AND SPINACH CURRY

with tomato, onion, garlic and spices. Topped with curried parsnip crisps

and served on basmati rice with a mint and cucumber raita

GRILLED SIRLOIN STEAK   with a grilled tomato topped with  basil and garlic butter    ( £1.50 supplement )

 PANFRIED SEA BASS FILLET  with hollandaise sauce flavoured with orange.

Served with lambs’ lettuce, cucumber and spring onion salad dressed with olive oil

 GRILLED PORK LOIN   with Bramley apple relish and a creamy sage sauce

 MUSHROOM AND COURGETTE LASAGNE

Pasta layered with mushrooms and  courgettes in a tomato & dill sauce & mascarpone cream flavoured with garlic

 CALVES’ LIVER AND ONIONS  Lightly fried and served in a rich onion gravy topped with crispy onion rings  

PUDDINGS

STRAWBERRIES AND SHORTBREAD

Smiths’ shortbread served with chopped  strawberries, crème fraiche and stem ginger syrup

PRUNES IN AROMATIC SYRUP

Prunes poached in an aromatic red wine and herb syrup. Served chilled with vanilla ice cream

SMITHS’ ECCLES CAKES   served warm with almond cream

CARAMELISED ORANGE TART

A pastry case filled with rich orange custard. Served   chilled with caramelised orange slices in syrup
